With 29 days until I leave for Managua, Nicaragua, I thought it would be a good idea to start this blog now, and not when I get there.. That would not be a good idea at all.. Well anyways alot of people have been asking alot of questions about what I'm doing, where I'm staying, and who with, etc etc... So I thought I would start off by giving all the basic details... Here goes...
Okay so I am working for Matt and Eva Barlow. They run ESCUELA CRISTIANA DE SORDOS EN MANAGUA.. Translation: Managua Christian School for the Deaf.. If you haven't caught on yet, I am working in a deaf school... Which leads to my favorite question.. Yes, Nicaragua has different sign language than the United States.. Its kind of like spanish and english.. Not the same language.. Anyways, I am living in a dorm at the school..and its a pretty amazing school! What am I doing? Well for now I a teachers' aid and then at night the girls' chaperone.. My responsibility for that is planning meals and games.. Which games are awesome so I'm pretty stoked..
Right now the Barlows are starting their construction month.. Every January before school starts they do painting, and building and all the other things you do when you do construction...Their newest project though is a coffee house, which is pretty tight if you ask me..They need ALOT of help so pray that more teams volunteer their time to help them out.. The Coffee House will provide a of coffee house and cyber cafe (EASY INTERNET ACCESS!!) , church offices, and Sunday School classrooms.. That sounds bigger than Capstone!
Thats about it for now.. I'll keep you updated... Maybe.. Yeah I will because my parents wouldn't like it if I didn't .... Adios for now!
